Holiday lights are a lovely excuse to see familiar streets differently, but a state-by-state list is only useful when the displays actually exist that year. Events can move, require tickets, sell out or close in poor weather. Treat this guide as a route-building method and use each town’s official events calendar for dates and locations before you leave.

Use Fredericksburg or another Hill Country community as your base after verifying its current holiday calendar. Park once and walk when possible. Enchanted Rock is an outdoor daylight visit, not an after-dark holiday-lights attraction.
Florida: neighborhood evenings are regional trips
A compact town-center or botanical-garden event can be a better December plan than driving across the state in search of multiple displays. Check whether attractions allow walking, require advance tickets or prohibit stopping on the roadside.

Avoid stopping in travel lanes to photograph private homes; use designated parking and respect residents. For children, plan food and restrooms before the first stop.
